Glazed Roof Installation with a Rural View in Kamo
This home in Kamo had an unbeatable rural outlook but no way to enjoy it properly year-round. The owners wanted to make better use of their outdoor space—somewhere to entertain, relax, and soak up the view, no matter the weather.
The install came with a few curveballs. Because of the balcony’s handrail, we couldn’t fix the roof from the front like we normally would. Instead, we engineered a custom back beam and installed it underneath the balcony itself. The frame also had to be specially cut to work around the large masonry pillars that
support the space.
Up front, we used a combination of new concrete footings—dug and poured by our team—and parts of the existing patio to anchor the structure. Every part of this project needed creative thinking and careful attention to detail.
The finished roof spans nearly 12 metres wide with a 2.7 metre projection, coated in Ironsand for a sleek finish. The panels are white opaque, providing full UVA and UVB protection and reducing heat by 65%. It’s a striking addition that blends into the home while offering major lifestyle benefits.
Now, this balcony isn’t just a space with a view—it’s a true outdoor room. Rain or shine, the family has a protected, stylish area to gather, dine, and enjoy their slice of Northland. One of our favourite installs yet.
