Kensington Stunner Glazed Roof Perfection

This project in Kensington, Whangarei, was a true showcase of what Shadeland does best — delivering a shade and shelter solution that feels like part of the home, not an afterthought.

The homeowners wanted to extend their outdoor living area with a premium roof that matched their high-value property. Their main priorities were:

To achieve this, our team installed a 30sqm glazed roof system, finished in satin black powder coating with tinted panels. This not only provided the desired living space but also complemented the home’s modern lines beautifully.

The home was a steel built home built so our team designed and installed custom welded alloy Z-posts to transfer the load effectively — a different design style installation to a more typical timber-framed installations. These details are where Shadeland excels, ensuring strength and durability without compromising style.

On the northern end, we fitted a 3.5m x 2.5m Ziptrak blind. This addition provided excellent protection from wind and weather, while also delivering privacy from neighbouring properties. The blind integrated cleanly into the structure, maintaining a sleek finish from every angle.

Finally, we ensured the pergola’s water runoff was plumbed back into the stormwater system, keeping the outdoor area dry and maintaining the home’s clean, functional design.

The end result? A stunning glazed roof and blind system that the homeowners were absolutely ecstatic about. This is one of our favourite installs — practical, stylish, and perfectly in tune with the property it was built for.
