Waipu Shade Sail: Enhancing Ocean Views with Smart Shade Design
Perched atop a scenic hill in Waipu, Northland, this stunning location boasts breathtaking panoramic ocean views, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and entertaining. The client wanted to create shaded comfort in their outdoor entertaining area without obstructing the exceptional vista. Shadeland carefully designed a simple yet elegant shade sail solution, strategically utilising the existing tiny homes. On one side, a rope track system was installed, seamlessly integrating the sail with the existing structure. On the opposite side, durable stainless steel fittings provided tension and an appealing aesthetic.
A single galvanised steel post was custom-installed to elevate the sail, preserving the sweeping ocean views while providing ample shade coverage below. Shadeland overcame the challenge of maintaining the site's unique view by precisely adjusting the height and placement of the shade structure. Using high-quality Shadetec 320 Charcoal fabric, the installation offered excellent UV protection, style, and durability, perfectly matching the natural surroundings.
The result was a practical, cost-effective solution, achieving the client's vision of shade without sacrificing the exceptional scenery.
