Shade Solution with the Ellipse Monobloc Awning

Creating shade is just the start. Outdoor comfort means designing a space that feels right for how you live. That’s what one of our recent clients needed—a smart solution that blocked the harsh morning sun while also adding a splash of style to her home. The answer? The Ellipse Monobloc Awning. It gave her everything she was looking for: practical shade, easy operation, and a finish that tied in beautifully with her home’s look.

She wanted her deck and garden protected, especially her plants, which were struggling with the intense early sun. She also hoped for a touch of colour that would blend nicely with the soft tones of her brickwork. It had to be easy to use too. And of course, it had to last—standing up to the New Zealand weather without needing constant attention.

The space came with a few challenges. The deck didn’t have much depth, so there wasn’t a lot of room to work with. The soffit was high, letting in more sun than ideal. And with the brickwork made up of subtle, earthy colours, finding the right fabric match was important. On top of that, the area gets a decent amount of wind, so we had to make sure the setup was solid.

We chose the Ellipse Monobloc Awning because it ticked all the boxes. The adjustable pitch crank lets her change the angle depending on the season, so she can get more or less sun when she wants it. We used fabric from the Docril range—over 80 options to choose from—and found a colour that matched her home beautifully. The frame was powder-coated in a Dulux Duralloy finish that lined up perfectly with the soffit. And with three moveable brackets, we placed the awning in the best possible position to shade her garden and part of the house.

It also comes with a 10-year UV warranty, which gives her peace of mind for the long run. Now, she’s got a space that’s not just protected, but also feels like part of the home. It looks great, works exactly how she needs it to, and brings real comfort to her everyday routine.

If your home has similar sun issues or you’re looking for a custom shade solution that works and looks great, the Ellipse Monobloc Awning is worth considering. Get in touch with us here at Shadeland to chat about how we can make your outdoor space work better for you.
