Creating a More Comfortable Outdoor Room with Shade Track Pro Blinds

This project was all about helping the homeowners get more use out of their outdoor room throughout the year while still keeping the space open, comfortable, and connected to the outdoors.

The existing area already had great potential as an entertaining space, but exposure to wind, rain, and harsh afternoon sun meant it wasn’t always comfortable to use. The homeowners wanted a solution that would provide reliable protection from the elements without fully closing the area in or losing airflow and visibility.

Our team recommended a custom Shade Track Pro blind system designed specifically for the layout of the outdoor room. To ensure a strong and durable installation, we used 50 x 50 alloy aluminium posts securely fastened against the brickwork. This created a solid fixing point while maintaining a clean and tidy finish that suited the home.

One of the key design considerations for this project was maximising the usable space within the outdoor area. To achieve this, the blind tracks were extended right out to the edge of the brickwork rather than being recessed further inside the opening. This gave the homeowners noticeably more functional room to enjoy when the blinds are in use.

The installation was finished with protective pelmets, helping shield the blinds from weather exposure and giving the overall system a streamlined appearance.

For the blind fabric, the homeowners selected 1% Atmosphere mesh — a popular choice for outdoor living spaces where maintaining visibility and airflow is just as important as weather protection. The mesh helps reduce wind, glare, and rain while still allowing natural light and air movement through the space, creating a much more comfortable environment without feeling closed in.
